The People’s Open Policies and Procedures
General Event Information
Event Name: The People’s Open
Structure: The tournament includes qualifying events (“Satellite Qualifiers”) and direct-entry options to The People’s Open.
*A minimum of 10 players is required to hold a qualifier.
Registration and Entry
Eligibility: Open to all golfers; no membership or status is required.
Entry Fees:
- Qualifier Entry Fee: $395 per qualifier event.
- Direct Entry Fee: $2,975 for direct entry into The People’s Open.
Registration Process:
- All registrations and payments must be completed online through the official event website.
- Entry fees must be paid in full at the time of registration.
- Registrations are non-refundable, except in cases outlined in the refund policy.
- No in-person or on-site registrations will be accepted.
Tournament Format
Qualifiers (Satellite Events):
The top 10% of finishers in the field, rounded down to the nearest whole number, will receive free entry into The People’s Open (valued at $2,975).
For example:
- If there are 58 players, the top 5 players will qualify.
- If there are 41 players, the top 4 players will qualify.
Qualifiers are stroke-play events. In the event of a tie for the final qualifying spot, a sudden-death playoff will determine the winner.
The People’s Open:
Format: Stroke play
In case of a tie for first place:
Players tied can choose to split the first-place prize evenly.
If any tied player does not agree to split the prize, a sudden-death playoff will determine the winner.
Code of Conduct
All participants are expected to display professionalism, sportsmanship, and respect toward fellow competitors, tournament staff, and course personnel.
Any conduct deemed inappropriate, including unsportsmanlike behavior or damage to course property, may result in disqualification.
Equipment and Rules of Play
The tournament will adhere to USGA Rules of Golf.
Players must use conforming equipment as defined by the USGA and R&A.
Weather Policy
The tournament will proceed rain or shine unless conditions are deemed unsafe by The Tour.
If play is suspended, participants must follow instructions provided by tournament officials.
Prize Payouts
Payment Methods:
All prize payouts will be made via electronic wire transfer or check, based on the recipient’s preference.
Prize Purse Announcement:
The total prize purse and payout structure will be based on the number of participants and will be announced prior to the tournament.
Tax Information:
All payouts are subject to applicable taxes, and it is the responsibility of the recipient to report and pay any taxes owed.
Refund Policy
General Refund Rules:
No Refunds After Registration Deadlines:
Refunds will not be issued after the registration deadline for any qualifier or for The People’s Open.
Withdrawals Before the Registration Deadline:
Withdrawals made before the registration deadline will receive a full refund of the entry fee.
Withdrawals made after the registration deadline but within 14 days of the event date will incur a $100 cancellation fee, and the remainder of the entry fee will be refunded.
No Refunds for Qualified Players Unable to Compete in The People’s Open:
Players who earn entry into The People’s Open through the qualification process will not receive a refund if they are unable to compete, regardless of circumstances.
Special Circumstance: Event Cancellation:
If The People’s Open does not take place for any reason:
Players who earned a spot in The People’s Open through the qualification process will be refunded their qualifier entry fee ($395) only. No refunds will be issued for the value of their earned ticket ($2,975).
Players who did not qualify for The People’s Open will not receive any refunds for their qualifier entry fees.
Appeals and Disputes
Any disputes related to rulings, conduct, or results must be submitted in writing to The Tour within 1 hour of completing the round.
The Tour’s decision is final.
Health and Safety
Participants assume all risks associated with participation in the event, including injury or illness.
Media and Publicity
By registering, participants grant permission for The People’s Open to use their likeness, name, and performance details in promotional materials, including photographs, videos, and live streams.
Liability Waiver
All participants must sign a liability waiver at the time of registration, acknowledging the inherent risks of participation and waiving claims against event organizers, sponsors, and host venues.
